About the Artist:
Emily Drouin is an award-winning children’s book illustrator, comic artist, and graphic designer with over 25 years of experience spanning books, games, murals, and animation. She has provided character designs and visual development for Nickelodeon and Netflix Animation, interned at Disney, and has illustrated more than 16 books and comics, including the award-winning How the Pirates Saved Christmas, The Pirate Who Learned to Love, bestseller Kona Finds a Family, and the upcoming graphic novels Kaijunior Vol 1 & 2 (Macmillan/21 Pulp).
Emily serves as Vice Chair of the New England Chapter of the National Cartoonists Society and frequently leads youth art workshops at conventions, schools, libraries, and museums. She is also the founder and manager of Kids Con New England, a bi-annual comic convention for kids promoting art education and literacy.

Emily Drouin founded Kids Con New England in 2015 – the region’s first comic con for kids! Kids Con promotes art education and literacy through comics, children’s books, workshops, gaming, and fun activities that inspire creativity and learning. In spring 2020, Emily organized, animated and hosted the first two-day virtual comic con for kids, Kids Con Online, featuring creators from across the country.
Emily earned her BA in Graphic Design from Keene State College, studied art at the NH Institute of Art, the Currier Museum of Art Center, interned at Disney, and provided character designs, concept art and visual development for Nickelodeon (Santiago of the Seas) and Netflix Animation (Kid Cosmic) .
Emily has illustrated and published over 16 books and comics, as well as several book and comic covers for authors and publishers worldwide, including the award-winning How The Pirates Saved Christmas, The Pirate Who Learned to Love (President’s Gold Award for Best Picture Book by Florida Authors and Publishers Association in August 2025), How The Pirates Saved Christmas, Kona Finds a Family (#1 Best Seller for Juvenile Fiction on IngramSpark, and “Project We Love” on Kickstarter in March 2024).

“As a cartoonist, children’s illustrator and author, I am on a quest to bring joy, laughter, and a touch of whimsy into the world. I strive to create playful and relatable narratives that tickle the imagination and provide an escape from the complexities of everyday life. I find inspiration in the ordinary, turning mundane moments into extraordinary adventures, with a dose of good humor. I hope to bring smiles to the faces of those who encounter my work, reminding all to embrace the childlike wonder within us and find joy in the simplest of things.”
